Volunteers on our Connection Central Team are those who assist people during the weekend services through prayer, counsel, answering questions and providing next steps. Connection Central is your one stop shop for connecting into the life and ministry of Athens Church. Volunteers in this role must be Covenant Members.
Volunteers in our Kids ministry (birth – 6th graders) get the opportunity to shepherd and care for our kids during weekend worship services through singing, dancing and teaching the truth of God’s Word. They check in kids, lead classrooms, provide assistance to classroom teachers and care for babies and toddlers.
Our music volunteers are those who use their musical talents and giftings to help lead the church in worshipping God through song. This is typically done during Sunday morning worship services and Prayer Nights. These volunteers participate in team rotations each month along with weekly band practice as well.
Our Parking Team Volunteers believe that the sermon starts in the parking lot. This team is made up of individuals who love welcoming every guest in a way that radiates Christ’s passion and love for people. They welcome and direct people to a parking place, and keep traffic flowing smoothly.
The Athens Communication Team is a group of volunteers who seek to help Athens effectively communicate the good news of the gospel, as well as the everyday rhythms of the church. The team meets once a month on every 3rd Tuesday to work on and discuss current projects, including copywriting, graphic design, photography, and communication tools.
Sunday morning worship services require lots of technical pieces to minimize distractions and to maximize our audio-visual experience. These are the behind the scenes volunteers who make worship services run smoothly. We are always in need of teachable people willing to set up and tear down sound equipment, operate soundboards, run lighting and prepare on screen visuals each week.
Volunteers on our Finance team serve the church behind the scenes in the area of giving and financial stewardship. They collect the offering and asset with counting after Sunday worship services. Due to the confidential nature of the role, applicants must be Covenant Members and pass a background check.
Our Welcome Team volunteers create a welcoming and hospitable environment for those walking in the doors of Athens Church each and every Sunday. They provide helpful information and direction to all who are present on Sunday mornings.
