Administrative Assistant

The administrative assistant reports to the Athens Church Lead Pastor, and works to assist and help the rest of the staff.

Position Summary

The administrative assistant will assist in all aspects of administration and ministry at Athens Church. This position is responsible for taking on the majority of administrative work in regards to event management, meetings, organization, calendar, emails, data management, follow-up, communication, etc.

There is not a provided office space for this position, therefore the administrative assistant must be able to work remotely.

Job Responsibilities

Calendar:

  • Schedule appointments, meetings, teaching engagements, events, phone conferences, etc.
  • Protect blocked out study and office times of Lead Pastor
  • Post all events on calendar and make edits when changes are made.
  • Schedule appointments with staff, members and visitors.

Event Management:

  • Assist in planning events with the ministries of Athens Church.
  • Meet or provide solutions to logistical needs of Athens Church events.
  • Write down feedback of event to make improvements for next time.
  • Provide event information to Attendees.

Meetings:

  • Attend weekly staff meeting
  • Think through Agenda items
  • Take notes on planning & feedback
  • Ensure proper documents/handouts are available
  • Take minutes/action points

Communication:

  • Screen and appropriately direct email and phone calls.
  • Interface with others on behalf of the Lead Pastor and Athens Church.
  • Communicate consistently with the Lead Pastor, updating and debriefing current projects and tasks.

Database Management:

  • Enter and update people’s information into our Church management database.
  • Add and update people in workflows and ensure follow-up is being done.

Other:

  • Provide admin support for ministries, strategic initiatives, and other special projects.
  • Perform tasks such as typing, proofing, editing, copying, and distributing documents
  • Assist with various administrative tasks and personal errands on an as-needed basis
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications and Requirements

Expectations and Compensation

  • This position is categorized as a 6 month internship.
  • After the 6 months there will be an evaluation that will determine if this position is an overall good fit for you and good fit for the church for the current season it’s in.
  • The position requires anywhere from  5-10 hours per week.
  • The person hired for this position will be responsible for tracking their hours.
  • This is an hourly paid position.
